Jake Lloyd, the once-celebrated child actor famed for portraying Anakin Skywalker in the ‘Star Wars’ prequels, has made his first public appearance in over a year… after previously undergoing treatment for schizophrenia at a mental health care center.
The former star seemed to be in good spirits during a recent visit to his local gym in Los Angeles, where he took a few puffs from his vape and responsibly disposed of several protein shake containers.
Jake seemed to be maintaining a low-key presence… keeping a low profile while showcasing a newly groomed beard.
This marks the first significant update we’ve received about Jake in seven months… His mother, Lisa Lloyd, had previously confirmed in March that her son was undergoing a mental health treatment program following a concerning incident a year earlier.
According to Lisa in an interview with Scripps News, Jake, who starred in the 1999 film “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” was hospitalized in 2023 after he abruptly turned off their car while driving down the road. Authorities had to step in… but Lisa described Jake’s communication with the officers as fragmented, likening it to “word salad” at that moment.
Nevertheless, Lisa shared an optimistic update regarding Jake earlier this spring, stating that he was “doing a lot better” in his therapy, indicating her son was starting to resemble his former self.
She added… “He is relating to others in a better way and becoming a little more social, which is heartening.”
Lisa mentioned that Jake’s treatment has a few months left to go, however… this appears to have concluded recently, as indicated by his latest public appearance.
The news regarding Jake’s schizophrenia diagnosis first came to light in 2015, following several unpredictable occurrences that led to the actor spending time in both jail and medical facilities.
It seems Jake is poised for a new beginning!!!
