Donald Trump hosting a town hall event in Pennsylvania three weeks ahead of the election is a logical move — yet dedicating more than half an hour dancing to music rather than engaging with the audience … well, that’s an entirely different scenario.
Perhaps the ex-president’s confidence in his prospects within this pivotal battleground state led him to believe that a dance celebration would be more impactful than engaging the crowd that assembled Monday evening in Oaks, PA — yet there he was, showcasing all of his meme-worthy dance moves.
For an astonishing 39 minutes, Trump swayed — more like danced — to an unusual playlist … which featured tracks like “Ave Maria,” “Time to Say Goodbye,” “Hallelujah,” and “Nothing Compares 2 U.” Not exactly the lively dance anthems one would expect.
If this all sounds and appears odd on video … just imagine the sentiments of those present at the venue. A significant number of attendees left during the musical segment.
Even Trump’s staunch ally, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem — who was meant to moderate the town hall dialogue — appeared bewildered as she found herself transformed into a party emcee. Observe her expression when Trump requested the DJ to crank up his favorite, “YMCA,” to an exuberantly high volume.
He ultimately stepped off stage to the tunes of Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain” … and did take the time to interact with some of the loyal supporters lingering at the end.
As is common with political events these days, there are two interpretations of Trump’s dance antics — while Democrats argue it signifies his cognitive decline, Republicans see it as a clever tactic … particularly in response to two individuals in the audience experiencing medical crises.
Undoubtedly, this raises questions about the appropriateness of playing, “Time to Say Goodbye.”
