Expounding on his views, he stated, “One brilliant move they executed in Los Angeles was introducing audiences to the West Coast culture. Given a major platform like the Super Bowl, which is heading to New Orleans, why overlook Lil Wayne? Why not include Master P? What about Cash Money?”
The former NFL MVP held firm to his position despite being met with a single boo from an audience member. His thoughts resonate with many who had hoped to witness the Young Money mogul perform in the city he holds so close to his heart.
Lil Wayne took to social media following the initial announcement to voice his discontent with not being chosen for the highly-anticipated role. In his message, he remarked, “Your words transformed into strength and supported me when I felt like giving up,” after receiving overwhelming affection from his fans in response to the news of the Compton-raised star headlining the event. Speculation abounds regarding whether Lamar might invite Wayne as a special guest, given his history of praising the iconic artist.
