The Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain was rushed to the hospital following a distressing fall during Wednesday evening’s game, where the first-round draft selection struck his head against the floor.
This concerning incident took place in the fourth quarter of the Nets vs. Sixers match at the Wells Fargo Center. McCain, while striving to collect a rebound from his own missed shot, was inadvertently contacted, resulting in him tumbling backward and hitting his head on the court.

The impact was audible on the broadcast, prompting swift concern for the 20-year-old player who lay on the court, visibly hurt.
Credit goes to the officiating crew, who halted the game immediately.
According to 76ers head coach Nick Nurse, McCain was transported to the hospital after experiencing difficulty with his breathing.
“It was challenging,” Nurse remarked regarding the injury post-game.
“I’ve never exactly witnessed something like this before, so let’s hope he recovers well and we can get more information from the hospital.”
As of now, there has been no update from Nurse, the 76ers, or McCain’s family.
McCain was selected as the 16th overall choice in the 2024 NBA Draft after excelling at Duke University, where he averaged 14.4 points and five rebounds per game.
This 6-foot-3 guard was also recognized as a McDonald’s All-American and named California Mr. Basketball, among numerous other high school accolades.
