The internet sensation Hurricane Milton dog, who was left tethered to a fence amidst swelling floodwaters by his owner, is no longer available for adoption after integrating with a new foster family … yet the local Humane Society is optimistic this won’t diminish interest in other dogs in need of homes.
Katie Stryker from the Leon County Humane Society informs TMZ … Trooper, who received a new name after being rescued, is no longer taking applications for adoption … as his foster family will soon have the chance to adopt the dog.
Even if the foster family opts not to proceed with adoption, Katie assures that a “perfect home” awaits Trooper in his future.
Trooper’s previous owner, who allegedly abandoned the dog by leaving him on the side of a highway in chest-deep water as the recent storm approached Tampa, has been arrested this week and charged with aggravated animal cruelty.
Numerous inquiries and applications from individuals experienced with the breed have already poured in for the dog … thus, there is no necessity to keep the application process open.

While Trooper’s tale has captured widespread attention, Katie states it has not motivated potential adopters to pursue other rescue animals.
In essence, Trooper’s narrative has yet to result in a notable increase in adoptions … which is precisely why Katie is urging anyone touched by the tale to consider adopting from a rescue shelter.
Katie’s message is straightforward … there are over 3 million canines awaiting homes in shelters nationwide, each one deserving of love and companionship just like Trooper.
Don’t forget — adopt, don’t shop, everyone!!!
