On Tuesday evening (Oct. 8), Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland came together in New York City to honor Tina Knowles, who was celebrated at Glamour’s 2024 Women of the Year Awards.
The artist behind “Crazy in Love” appeared visibly moved while witnessing her mother take the stage. “I’ve been incredibly fortunate throughout my life to accomplish many things and have various careers, but I’ve always claimed that the greatest role I’ve ever held is that of a mother,” Tina expressed.
“I’ve been blessed to raise and help nurture four daughters: two born to me and two gifted to me by God. You see, I was a bit of a rebellious youth and didn’t always abide by the rules, but the moment I became a mother, I vowed that this was one thing I wouldn’t mess up,” she elaborated.
Tina also reflected on how Beyoncé, Solange, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams stood by her during her “darkest moments.” She added, “What fills me with pride is the incredible individuals they have grown into. Their ability to remain humble, grounded, gracious, generous, and kind, and how they translate these qualities into their artistry is remarkable.”
From a business perspective, Tina and Beyoncé have collaborated multiple times. This February, she assisted the pop sensation in launching Cécred as the vice chairwoman. The Texan also made appearances in two episodes of the brand’s “In The Cécred Salon.”
Earlier this month, Tina reminisced about the “ordinary activities” she misses sharing with Beyoncé and Solange now that they’ve achieved superstardom. “I long for our trips to the grocery store, [and] for the times when I could take my kids to eat at the cafeteria. You simply can’t visit the mall like we used to,” she explained to Glamour.
