The tension between Toosii and Asian Doll has escalated following his remarks about modern fame. During an Instagram Live broadcast on Saturday (Oct. 5), the artist known for “Favorite Song” expressed his discontent towards women — particularly those linked to rappers or other well-known personalities — who amass large followings online solely due to those associations.
“Since when did being someone’s girlfriend make you a celebrity? When did that ever become a form of stardom?” Toosii voiced during the live session. “You see women becoming famous, and no one even knows what they actually do. They’re merely someone’s girlfriend or [mother of their child]. It’s absurd. They’re not marketing anything. They’re not involved in any endeavors. Their fame comes just from the spotlight that’s suddenly been cast on them.”
He subsequently attempted to clarify, “I’m not singling out anyone’s [child’s mother] specifically.” Despite his intent, many users on social media, including Asian Doll, interpreted the NAUJOUR artist’s statements as a jab at the mother of his child.
“Be mindful of who you choose to date because guys can become angry over your success while hoping that you remain stagnant for them,” the rapper from Dallas cautioned on Sunday (Oct. 6). She further added, “Toosii, you [are] gay… That’s the final word.”
Following this exchange, the duo began sharing throwback images of each other that some might consider less than flattering. “Back then, I was simply a handsome young man,” Toosii explained. “Everyone has those MySpace [and] Facebook photos, and at the time, I was with one of the most beautiful women in the city.”
Recently, Toosii launched his newest project, JADED, on Friday (Oct. 4). This collection of 13 tracks includes pre-release singles such as “Champs Élysées” featuring Gunna and “Fuk You Mean.” Collaborators like Muni Long and Kehlani contributed their soulful voices to tracks “I Do” and “Ok… Whatever,” respectively.
On the flip side, Asian Doll released “Blood On My Hands” in August, marking her first project as the lead artist since her remix of “Where the Fun N**gas At?” featuring Gloss Up.
