David Harbour is making grand declarations regarding the impending conclusion of Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” which is presently in production for its fifth and concluding season.
The performer, who has portrayed Sheriff Jim Hopper throughout the series’ entirety, attended the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast event at New York Comic Con on Thursday and discussed what lies ahead in the final chapter of the show, which includes the series’ ultimate episode.
As David expressed, the series finale is set to be “the finest episode [the Duffer Brothers have] ever crafted,” noting that the cast was brought to tears during a recent reading.
While David confessed he can be “extremely critical” of the series due to his deep connection to the storyline and its characters, he assured that the series conclusion will provide viewers with a fulfilling experience.
He further elaborated, saying, “They do a tremendous job … As we were reading this episode, halfway through, there were tears flowing.”
According to David, his co-star Noah Schnapp exhibited the most intense emotional response, stating he was “crying uncontrollably” during the last quarter of the read-through.
This revelation certainly raises concerns for Noah’s character Will, as well as his dear friends — a nod to Finn Wolfhard and Millie Bobby Brown. David, however, suggested that such an emotional response might stem from nostalgia, considering the series’ filming has encompassed much of the cast’s formative years.
He continued, “It’s been a decade since we began, and this theme resonates beautifully within the story … It’s a remarkable episode and an exceptional season. You all will adore it.”
Netflix has not yet announced the premiere date for season five, but it’s anticipated to debut sometime next year.
By the way, with Noah getting emotional, one has to wonder …
