Lil Durk is on the verge of unveiling his upcoming project, which is not Love Songs 4 the Streets 3 as previously anticipated by his fans. On Friday (Oct. 4), the rapper from Chicago revealed that Deep Thoughts is set to be available on streaming platforms starting on Oct. 18.
“For the community, for the streets, Smurk [is] making a comeback,” he wrote in an Instagram update featuring the monochrome cover art. Currently, the sole confirmed tracks are “Turn Up A Notch” and “Monitoring Me,” with the latter released at the stroke of midnight.
“I was a huge Jeezy enthusiast, but felt a fire within me, didn’t construct a snowman/ You equipped a new Glock with a switch, I bet that little b**ch will start acting up/ I don’t even have to pay anyone to do a thing, I’ve got soldiers, all my homies,” Durk delivered on the Southside-crafted track.
Deep Thoughts will serve as a highly-anticipated successor to 2023’s Almost Healed. This 21-track project featured collaborations with notable artists such as Morgan Wallen, the late Juice WRLD, Rob49, Kodak Black, and Future, among others. Some of the remarkable tracks included the Alicia Keys-featured “Therapy Session” and “All My Life,” which secured the award for Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
“I was getting ready, and when they [declared that I won], the entire house erupted in cheers. I said, ‘Yep. I understand what that signifies.’ I shot a text to [J. Cole]. He’s thrilled. As you know, he’s touring right now. Big shout out to J. Cole. Also, much love to Dr. Luke,” Durk shared with the Recording Academy regarding his collaboration on “All My Life” with the Dreamville Records co-founder.
“I actually composed the track and held onto it for a year to get [J. Cole] involved. If I hadn’t connected with him, I probably wouldn’t have released it,” he continued. “I thought, ‘This is Grammy material.’ That’s what I believed. Collaborating with him means more tracks, a tour, just exceptional vibes, and absorbing knowledge from him. He’s the greatest.”
