Belal Muhammad is firing back at Conor McGregor… just days after the UFC icon expressed his desire to “smash his skull.” The reigning welterweight champion certainly has some aggressive sentiments of his own!
This all kicked off earlier in the week when McGregor, 36, took to X in a tweet that has since been removed, stating, “I’d love to unleash my left hook into Belal’s temple and claim the triple crown. It would be a walk in the park! I’d crush his skull swiftly! The obstacles I face returning to the octagon are daunting.”
Conor elaborated… “I’m still devastated over having to cancel my June 29th fight. The thought that this loser is now a UFC champion without a single knockdown on his record is absurd. He’s the UFC’s most dismal fighter in modern history with no revenue to show.”
We approached Belal, who claimed victory over Leon Edwards for the 170 lb. title at UFC 304 in July, to inquire if McGregor was a matchup he craved, considering the trash talk.
“[Conor’s] probably not making a comeback. Moreover, if he does, I don’t expect him to defeat anyone,” Muhammad replied confidently, adding… “He resembles that older gentleman at the bar who always boasts, ‘I used to be a champion. I was a double champ, etc.'”
However, Muhammad feels that the audience will soon realize McGregor is past his prime.
“I believe fans will begin to see that everything [Conor] says is just hot air. He isn’t truly going to step into the ring; he’s just all talk.”
If they were ever to truly engage … Belal believes it would be a thoroughly one-sided match.
“I would practically dominate him in the cage. It would be so embarrassing that onlookers would think, ‘No way, this guy was a two-time champion? How is this individual even competing?’ The sport has outpaced him.”
We also discussed with Muhammad regarding his ongoing rivalry with Ilia Topuria AND his forthcoming UFC 310 matchup against Shavkat Rakhmonov, marking his inaugural title defense.
