Chlöe is inspiring Gen Z to step up and cast their votes as the presidential election approaches, featuring Kamala Harris competing against Donald Trump on November 5.

On Wednesday (Oct. 2), Glamour published an interview with the “Have Mercy” performer, recognizing her as the publication’s Musician of the Year. In their discussion, she elaborated on the significance of voting, particularly for those who previously lacked that right.

“There were times when individuals who resembled me did not have the right to vote. As a Black woman in 2024, I can express my opinions — I can actually support another woman of color who may become president,” Chlöe remarked. “For this generation, regardless of their choices, it’s crucial to cast our votes and ensure our voices resonate.”

The In Pieces artist did not clearly disclose her political support, although fans may have their suspicions. Her sister, Halle Bailey, performed at the U.S. Vice President’s Los Angeles fundraiser on Sunday (Sept. 29). Additionally, Beyoncé’s “Freedom” served as a key anthem for the Harris-Walz campaign’s promotional efforts earlier this year.

In another part of her conversation with Glamour, Chlöe reflected on the reversal of Roe v. Wade in 2022. “We’ve made significant advancements — I can stroll down the street and enter any shop as a Black woman, I can sustain myself by expressing my thoughts through my music,” she stated. “Yet, it’s disheartening to witness some of the very issues that those who fought for our rights in the past are resurfacing now, such as autonomy over our own bodies. The path to equality is still a long journey ahead.”

Her Trouble In Paradise album debuted on streaming platforms in August. This 16-track project featured collaborations with Halle, YG Marley, Jeremih, Ty Dolla Sign, and others.
