MIXTAPE PLUTO marks Future’s third entry at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for the year 2024, as reported by the publication on Sunday (Sept. 29). This release includes 17 tracks and, despite its lack of collaborations, successfully garnered an impressive 129,000 in album-equivalent units in the U.S.
As stated by the source, 118,500 of these units were derived from SEA units — which represent on-demand official streams — while 10,000 originated from physical album sales. This achievement positions the Atlanta artist with three LPs reaching this milestone within the year, following his previous collaborations with Metro Boomin: WE DON’T TRUST YOU and WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU.
Future finds himself in close competition with Eminem and Ye, each boasting 11 No. 1 albums on the 200 chart. Curiously, Drake is only two positions ahead, while JAY-Z leads by three spots. The Hot 100, in contrast, reveals a different scenario, where the “Mask Off” creator holds 15 top slots — his latest being March’s “Like That.”
Celebrating on Instagram, Future exclaimed, “OH S**T! Three No. 1s is [insane] work.” The project MIXTAPE PLUTO features crowd favorites like “PLUTOSKI,” “LIL DEMON,” and “TEFLON DON,” among others. Prior to its full-scale debut, there were speculations regarding contributions from Travis Scott and Gunna, primarily sparked by early leaks and promotional teasers.
Metro discussed their collaborative projects earlier this year, stating, “WE DON’T TRUST YOU focused heavily on world-building because audiences were only anticipating one album — we intentionally crafted it that way. WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU contains the largest number of tracks I’ve ever included in an album.”
The duo delivered listeners “All to Myself” featuring The Weeknd, “Type S**t” featuring Playboi Carti and Scott, alongside many more tracks across a total of 42 selections. Although Future and the producer recently embarked on tour to promote both albums, the Freebandz founder has yet to share details regarding a tour for MIXTAPE PLUTO.
