Alec Baldwin made a surprising comeback to “Saturday Night Live” just a few months after the allegations in the “Rust” incident were dismissed — and he unpacked Kamala Harris‘ intense interview with Bret Baier.
In this episode, Baldwin, who previously portrayed Donald Trump, took on the role of Baier opposite Maya Rudolph as VP Harris, recreating last week’s exchange between the Fox News host and the Democratic presidential candidate during the opening segment of the night.
This marked Baldwin’s first stint on ‘SNL’ after the manslaughter charges were unexpectedly dropped in July due to evidence suppression by prosecutors in the “Rust” case.
The ‘SNL’ sketch commenced with Baldwin’s face heavily made up, greeting Kamala as she appeared on stage. Maya stepped onto the scene in her Kamala attire, taking a seat opposite Baldwin.
Much like the actual interview, Alec and Maya kept interrupting each other throughout the skit… kicking off with a provocative question — inquiring how many millions of offenders she permitted into the nation via illegal immigration.
The humor of the sketch peaked when Bret chastised Kamala for seeking a viral moment, followed by her retort that he was merely attempting to get her to say something controversial.
As their banter continued, Alec remarked to Maya that she appeared attractive when she was upset. A comical highlight in the sketch… but one which did NOT occur in real life.
The opening skit of ‘SNL’ also featured the actor portraying Trump, James Austin Johnson, absurdly engaging in discussions regarding transgender matters while humorously dancing to The Village People’s “YMCA” — both of which actually transpired in reality.
