Cooper Koch has expressed considerable admiration for the imprisoned individual he portrays … stating his affection for Erik Menendez — and finding the encounter with him in prison to be a delightful experience.
The performer — who embodies Erik in Ryan Murphy’s “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” — chatted with Deadline during the Motion Picture Academy Gala on Saturday evening … and conveyed that his encounter with Erik was “rewarding.”
As you may be aware, Erik criticized ‘Monsters’ for inaccurately depicting his and Lyle’s experiences … and, as we reported, the pair received a visit shortly thereafter from Koch along with Kim Kardashian.
Cooper revealed he actually received a hug from Erik during his visit to the facility where he and Lyle are serving life sentences for the murder of their parents 35 years ago. He later shared that he’d have a conversation with Erik who expressed his dissatisfaction with the series before it was released — thus, the criticism was not unexpected for those involved.
Similar to many others — including various members of the Menendez family — Kim spoke out after the meeting, asserting that the brothers should be freed from incarceration.
The Los Angeles District Attorney is presently re-evaluating their case to determine whether or not they will advocate for a retrial or seek a resentencing of the Menendez brothers, which could potentially lead to their release from incarceration.
It appears that Cooper is prepared to embrace the brothers warmly upon their potential return to society … filled with compassion and affection.
