The proceedings in the case regarding Young Dolph’s homicide are anticipated to culminate in a jury decision shortly, with co-defendants betraying one another, one asserting that Yo Gotti’s deceased brother, Big Jook, financed them $100,000 for the contract. Following a mere four days of testimonies, the outcome for Justin “Straight Drop” Johnson will be established on Thursday (Sept. 26).

Prior to jury deliberations commencing, prosecutor Paul Hagerman indicated that the prosecution possesses sufficient evidence to secure a conviction against Johnson. He articulated, “When this trial was concluded for the fifth time, we demonstrated the slide from Justin’s mobile device.” The slide referenced was a FaceTime interaction between the 24-year-old and Jook, during which co-defendant Cornelius Smith claimed he articulated the name “Dolph.”

Smith notably accepted a guilty plea on Monday (Sept. 23), while Hernandez Govan, the purported architect of the murder, entered a Proffer agreement. Consequently, the details he shared with law enforcement were not utilized against him during the trial. Conversely, Johnson encounters charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

“The offense has been carried out. Dolph has been slain, and we can distinctly observe him at the elevators with his luggage,” Hagerman continued, according to FOX13 Memphis. “This case reached its conclusion when you viewed the footage. This case was resolved when you heard from the co-defendant. This case was finalized when you saw him at the elevators, aware that he was vacating.”

According to the testimonies, Smith and Johnson originally intended to ambush Dolph at his yearly Thanksgiving turkey distribution event. However, upon spotting his camouflaged Corvette on Nov. 17, 2021, they trailed him to the parking area of Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies. The autopsy disclosed that the late artist was shot 22 times, striking his torso, neck, arms, and back, all in broad daylight.

In 2022, Dolph’s estate released his inaugural posthumous album, Paper Route Frank. The 13-track collection featured collaborations with Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, Big Moochie Grape, Snupe Bandz, and frequent collaborator Key Glock.
