Lil Tecca is currently experiencing quite a surge in his career, having recently launched his new studio album, PLAN A, earlier this month. On Thursday (Sept. 26), the creator of “Ransom” engaged in a conversation with Complex to discuss sales and the significance of attaining the highest number of RIAA certifications for a rapper aged 21 or younger.
“It’s insane, honestly, but it’s not about me. The real credit goes to the people who support it,” the artist from Queens remarked about this achievement. “I truly feel proud of my successes, but they don’t elevate me too much because my fans are the ones who resonate with Lil Tecca. I’m simply the image of Lil Tecca.”
“I wrote the song, but I didn’t make it go platinum,” he added. Besides the previously mentioned track, songs like “500lbs,” “Amigo,” “NEVER LEFT,” and “Love Me” have all surpassed a million units in sales. Cumulatively, he boasts 10 RIAA-certified platinum singles and one certification for his 2019 project, We Love You Tecca.
“These numbers just reflect how well it connects with the audience it was crafted for. At the end of the day, statistics are merely numbers,” Tecca asserted. “If it resonated significantly, I did my job. If it didn’t resonate well, then I’ll go back to the drawing board and create something new. It’s never the end of the line.”
PLAN A debuted with previously appreciated tracks such as “BAD TIME,” “NUMBER 2,” “NEVER LAST,” and “TASTE.” Don Toliver was featured on the album, while producers included talents like Taz Taylor, KC Supreme, and others.
The deluxe version of this 18-track collection is up for pre-order on Tecca’s official website and is anticipated to feature two bonus tracks: “RIGHT NOW RADIO” and “RISK MY LIFE.”
