Apparently, it’s never too premature to make predictions for the Super Bowl. On Wednesday (Sept. 25), FERG and Jaylen Brown shared their expectations for the halftime show of 2025, where Kendrick Lamar is expected to be the main act.
“I believe they overlooked the opportunity with Lil Wayne,” Brown confessed. The “Romello” artist asserted, “Knowing Kendrick, he’s definitely going to bring Wayne on stage. He has to. That just doesn’t make [much sense]. Wayne is coming out, you can take my word for it.”
The theories from the Harlem native resonate with what many fans have been pondering. Numerous individuals, including Fivio Foreign, speculate that Lamar inviting Wayne to perform could finally resolve the long-standing tension between him and Drake. Super Bowl LIX is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2025, in New Orleans, so we’ll have to see how this unfolds.
Earlier in their discussion, Brown and FERG delved into the rap rivalry between the Compton artist and the Toronto superstar. “I followed Kendrick vs. Drake closely. I was on the edge of my seat. I think it’s over,” the shooting guard for the Boston Celtics remarked. “It [doesn’t] necessarily have to be, but I believe there’s not much left to say? Lines have already been crossed.”
“I feel like with Drake, it’s never truly finished. I’m just pleased that Kendrick is releasing music and [that] they’re keeping the culture alive through their exchanges. I love that s**t,” FERG remarked. Notably, his “Shabba” collaborator, ASAP Rocky, recently joined in the mix with a guest verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s track “Show of Hands.”
Despite dropping bars referencing Drake’s baby mama and claiming that For All The Dogs “came and went,” ASAP Rocky told Billboard that he does not intend to escalate things. “There’s real beef outside,” the ASAP Mob co-founder stated. “That petty s**t ain’t about anything.”
Regarding Brown and FERG, the duo collaborated on “Just Do It,” a clever wink at Nike’s iconic slogan.
