The passionate surfer and social media influencer Giulia Manfrini tragically passed away at the young age of 36 after being tragically hit by a swordfish in Indonesia.
This unfortunate event occurred earlier this month at Masokut Island, a favored destination for surfers, when a swordfish leaped from the waves and struck Manfrini in her chest.
Reports indicate that Manfrini sustained a 2-inch deep injury and was promptly transported to a nearby medical facility. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.
“You rode through life and traversed the globe pursuing your greatest passion,” one commenter, reflecting on her loss as one of her 22,000 fans on Instagram, expressed.
“Your passing serves as a reminder. Embrace life passionately and leave this world while doing what you cherish most. I hope her final moments were not marked by great pain. Surfing among the clouds. 💔”
Initially a professional snowboarder, Manfrini later discovered her passion for surfing. She also served as an instructor and played a role in founding AWAVE Travel.
Giulia proudly referred to herself as a “surf frother,” a term for those deeply passionate about surfing, as well as a pow (powder snow) enthusiast.
Her untimely death follows just a month after fellow surfer Jorge Alvarado sustained a head injury while surfing at Daytona Beach, Florida. He was 49 years old.
