Travis Scott’s DAYS BEFORE RODEO has clinched the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200 chart, though it accomplished this feat a few weeks post-re-release. The album surged from the 106th spot to the pinnacle, primarily due to vinyl sales totaling 156,000 album-equivalent units.
As reported by the outlet, vinyl transactions accounted for an impressive 149,000 units of this total, with the rest being generated from streaming. This achievement marks Scott’s fourth consecutive album to reach No. 1, following 2023’s UTOPIA, 2018’s ASTROWORLD, and Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, which debuted in 2016.
In its first week, DAYS BEFORE RODEO garnered 361,000 album-equivalent units, largely via streaming and digital purchases. Despite releasing a chopped and screwed version, along with three deluxe editions and a live performance version, the LP just missed the mark by 1,000 units when stacked against Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet.
Even though the initial excitement surrounding the re-release from 2014 has dwindled, Scott unveiled a concert documentary on September 18. This 23-minute film allows fans to immerse in live performances of songs such as “Skyfall,” “Drugs You Should Try It,” “Quintana Pt. 2,” and “Mamacita,” among others.
“Travis Scott’s DAYS BEFORE RODEO is a culturally significant work,” expressed Spotify’s head of Hip Hop and R&B Artist Partnerships, Josh Peas, noted. “With the 10th anniversary of the mixtape approaching and its release on streaming platforms, we aimed to honor this occasion and encapsulate the vibrant energy it has brought to all the ragers.”
He added, “As a homage to that remarkable evening and a gift for fans to relish, the release of the concert documentary serves as a perfect time capsule to narrate this story for many years ahead.” DAYS BEFORE RODEO is known for featuring artists like Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, Migos, T.I., Peewee Longway, and Big Sean.
