Paul George asserts it’s time for a change regarding reporters in NBA locker rooms … alleging he’s witnessed at least one journalist ogling at genitalia while in the players’ dressing quarters.
The star player for the Philadelphia 76ers did not hold back on the subject during his “Podcast P featuring Paul George” this week … indicating he aligns with NFL players advocating for the removal of media personnel in close proximity to showers.
George voiced several concerns regarding the practice … but emphasized that one of his significant annoyances is the suspected way some individuals have gazed at his and his teammates’ private areas during post-practice and postgame interviews.
“I would estimate that most of the locker room, bro, is unclothed [when reporters come in],” George remarked. “Like, we’re in towels. We’re nude. We just exited the shower. And then you have these reporters around and, like, they’re certainly not fixated on the wall, you know?”
“They’re staring at us.”
George specifically mentioned one journalist in Washington who was notorious for this … sharing with his co-hosts that this individual would “gawk at guys’ genitals while they’re in towels or while they’re changing.”
He further noted that numerous reporters eavesdrop on players’ private discussions … resulting in unfounded gossip and narratives.
“I just believe it’s our personal space,” he stated. “It ought to be regarded as such.”
He added, “There should be no one else in that environment.”
As of now, neither the NFL nor the NBA have indicated that any shifts might occur … even as players like George become increasingly outspoken on the issue.
