Victoria’s Secret is set to revive its fashion event spectacularly on October 15 after an extended break. On Wednesday (September 18), Tyla was unveiled as one of the primary performers, joining an exciting roster that already features Cher.
The forthcoming occasion will notably represent the brand’s inaugural all-female cast of musical acts. Though the remaining performers have not yet been disclosed, Victoria’s Secret has assured fans that they can expect the “glamour, wings, fashion, and musical entertainment that our clientele cherish.”
“As a child, I was mesmerized by the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show — the breathtaking costumes, signature wings, and enchanting models,” Tyla expressed in a conversation with Rolling Stone. “Now, I’m ecstatic about taking the stage in this nostalgic and illustrious setting. What makes it even more thrilling is the emphasis on diversity, highlighting a wider array of beauty, making this moment extraordinary.”
Scheduled to occur in Brooklyn, New York, the event will feature some of the brand’s legendary models on the catwalk, including well-known figures like Gigi Hadid, Tyra Banks, and Paloma Elsesser. In 2019, Victoria’s Secret opted to cancel the annual showcase following criticism for its lack of inclusivity and sagging viewership.
In 2023, Doja Cat took the spotlight for “The Victoria’s Secret World Tour,” aired via Amazon Prime. The artist known for “Say So” made a fashion statement in a daring slip dress on the red carpet before captivating the audience with live renditions of “Ouchies” and “Attention.”
In a discussion with ELLE, Tyla revealed that she has recently ventured into modeling. “I’ve come to realize that if there’s a poor shot, there will be a great one as well. I feel more at ease with making mistakes,” she shared with the magazine.
“I’m deeply engaged in all that I do: my sound, my image, my attire, and my appearance,” the “Water” artist elaborated. “It is significant, and it correlates with my feelings and ties back to the music, because ultimately, I’m an artist. While I do model, it remains a secondary pursuit.”
