Rich Homie Quan was tragically reported deceased on September 5 due to an alleged overdose. Fans and previous collaborators swiftly took to social media to pay tribute to the “Type of Way” artist, who made a significant impact in the music world during the early 2010s.

On Tuesday (September 17), Quan’s estate unveiled his inaugural posthumous single, “Song Cry.” This release coincided with the late artist’s celebration of life event, which took place in College Park, Georgia.

“In the shadow room reminiscing about Z Money, my partner / You’ve never looked your homie in the face after he passed / I’d probably be locked away if I hadn’t escaped those snakes,” the Rich As In Spirit performer expressed. “Trim the grass, keep the mower running, must stay alert for jealousy / I’ve encountered tricky situations, witnessed Drake fire that drac / I was in Canada, soul weeping, you know I called up Chase / Tear rolling down, $100 bill to dry my face.”

At the present time, it remains unclear if “Song Cry” will be a standalone release or part of an impending project. Quan’s father, Corey Lamar, shared with WSB-TV that he possesses “likely over 2,000 unreleased tracks” which they do not intend to keep to themselves.

“We had just wrapped a 20- to 25-song project, and were in the midst of planning two music video shoots from our project,” Lamar stated. “Once he gets into a recording groove, those songs become outdated to him, and when they seem old, he shifts his focus to the latest creations.”

He continued, “He has an extensive catalog in the vault. There’s a wealth of music that the fans deserve to experience.”

As reported by Rap-Up earlier, Quan was found unresponsive by his girlfriend, Amber Williams, at their residence in Atlanta. Regrettably, he was declared dead shortly after arriving at Grady Memorial Hospital.
