The season of Playboi Carti is thriving as he disrupts the streaming charts with his eagerly awaited track, “ALL RED.” The viral sensation took social media by storm once more after his Opium finsta account unveiled a cover art concept that clearly paid tribute to Lil Wayne’s beloved Dedication series alongside DJ Drama.
After the image gained significant traction, with fans celebrating the homage to Lil Wayne—especially in light of the Super Bowl LIX exclusion—Carti reposted the artwork, clarifying that while it isn’t the official cover for his upcoming album, he wished to express admiration for the “Lollipop” artist.
Recently, Wayne has been showered with appreciation from fans following the announcement that Kendrick Lamar will headline the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans. Soon after this news, he took to his social media to express his feelings about not being selected to perform at such a prestigious event.
In a video he shared, he said, “That hurt. It hurt a lot. You know what I’m talking about. It hurt incredibly.” He added, “I hold myself accountable for not being mentally prepared for disappointment and for automatically envisioning myself in that role like someone had officially given me that role. So I take responsibility for that. But I really believed that there was nothing more compelling than that spot, that stage, and that platform in my hometown, so it hurt. It truly hurt.”
The self-proclaimed King Vamp hasn’t dropped a full-length album since Christmas of 2020. With over four years since his last solo endeavor, listeners are eagerly anticipating what his new material will sound like. He’s gained notable momentum with his solo releases and featured appearances, highlighted by the Billboard No. 1 track “Carnival” alongside the artist formerly known as Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign.
