Megan Thee Stallion has an eventful October ahead. The Houston-born artist’s MEGAN: ACT II is set to launch on streaming platforms this Friday (Oct. 25), followed closely by Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, debuting on Halloween (Oct. 31) through Amazon Prime Video.
On Wednesday’s (Oct. 23) episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Megan disclosed that she had initially declined the chance to create a documentary. “[During] that entire phase of my life, I was facing some intense situations, and it felt like many people stripped away my humanity,” she shared, likely referencing the fallout from her altercation with Tory Lanez.
“Individuals were really weighing in on my personal life. You don’t know me. That wasn’t conveyed through my words. You aren’t privy to my true emotions,” the artist elaborated. “To have my narrative expressed by so many who aren’t me, I found that quite bewildering. So when I was presented with the chance to make a documentary — as I didn’t seek it out, they approached me […] — I was hesitant.”
The chart-topper behind “HISS” later explained her change of heart: “It felt as if countless people were dictating my narrative. I need to take control of this. I want to illustrate how I feel [and] my viewpoint. I desire for people to know me as Megan Pete, not just Megan Thee Stallion.”
Shortly thereafter, Megan humorously pointed out that even though she may appear like a contemporary Wonder Woman, she is still a person with emotions like everyone else. Catch the full interview below.
The superstar’s appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” coincided with the announcement of the tracklist for her MEGAN: ACT II. Among the 13 tracks, she will collaborate with TWICE for a remix of her Yuki Chiba-assisted “Mamushi.” Additionally, there are features with Flo Milli, heavy metal group Spiritbox, and RM — Megan previously joined forces with the BTS member for “Neva Play” in September.
