The highly anticipated trailer for Keke Palmer and SZA’s comedic film, One of Them Days, was finally unveiled on Thursday (Oct. 24).
This film centers around two inseparable friends and housemates, Dreux and Alyssa — portrayed by Palmer and SZA, respectively — as they hilariously scramble to prevent eviction after discovering that Alyssa’s boyfriend squandered their rent money.
“How are we going to come up with $1,500 by 6, especially with my interview at 4?” Palmer inquired. In another part of the trailer, Katt Williams cautioned the duo against taking out a loan: “Don’t do it. It’s a trap. If you’re short on cash this month, you’re bound to be in the same situation next month.”
Moments later, while in an office environment, a loan officer burst out laughing before informing Palmer, “I’ve never come across such a low credit score.” Following this, SZA tried to retrieve a pair of Air Jordan 1s tangled in a power line, while the Illinois native decided to give blood.
Directed by Lawrence Lamont, the film also features a stellar cast, including Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Maude Apatow. The production team boasts names such as Issa Rae, Sara Diya Rastogi, and Poppy Hanks, among others. Audiences can expect to see One of Them Days hit theaters on Jan. 24, 2025.
SZA had previously discussed her experience working with Williams during her interview with Kendrick Lamar for Harper’s BAZAAR, which was published earlier this month. “We filmed a movie last night. It was my first time, and I was so nervous. There’s a lot of fear about being my true self. I might just pretend it never happened or skip the premiere altogether,” the TDE artist expressed.
She went on to say, “I met Katt Williams [on the set]. He complimented me by calling me mentally ill. He said, ‘Sa, I think you may be a little mental—’ and I responded, ‘Illness?’ He replied, ‘Yes.’ He then said, ‘Oh, welcome.’”
