The inaugural teaser for Keke Palmer and SZA’s comedic duo, One of Them Days, was unveiled on Thursday (Oct. 24).
This film narrates the escapades of two close friends and housemates, Dreux and Alyssa — portrayed by Palmer and SZA, respectively — as they embark on outrageous adventures to prevent eviction after discovering that Alyssa’s boyfriend squandered their rental funds.
“How are we going to come up with $1,500 by 6, especially considering I have an interview at 4?” Palmer inquired. In another part of the trailer, Katt Williams advised the duo against taking a loan, stating: “Don’t go down that path. It’s a trap. If you can’t afford it this month, you won’t next month either.”
Shortly thereafter, a loan agent burst into laughter while informing Palmer, “I’ve never encountered a credit score this low.” Following this, SZA was seen attempting to retrieve a pair of Air Jordan 1s from a power line, while the Illinois native tried her luck at donating blood.
The film, helmed by director Lawrence Lamont, also features notable actors such as Lil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Maude Apatow. Production was spearheaded by talents including Issa Rae, Sara Diya Rastogi, and Poppy Hanks, among others. One of Them Days is set to hit theaters on January 24, 2025.
SZA previously discussed her experience with Williams during an interview with Kendrick Lamar for Harper’s BAZAAR, released earlier in the month. “We filmed a movie last night. It was my first time, and I was really anxious. It’s quite nerve-wracking to be genuine. I might either forget it happened or skip the premiere,” the TDE artist explained.
