During the episode of “Caresha Please” that aired on Thursday (Oct. 24), Mariah the Scientist unveiled some intimate details about her romantic history. In her chat with Yung Miami, the artist behind “Spread Thin” reminisced about her relationship with Lil Yachty.
“This b**ch is on my case,” she quipped humorously. Mariah elaborated that she initially crossed paths with Yachty back in high school, but their romance didn’t blossom until she entered college. “I was aware his career was gaining momentum, and he had accomplished so much. I felt lost and unsure of what I could offer him since I was merely a struggling college student,” the vocalist shared.
“Then I thought, ‘He’s passionate about music, so am I. Why not create a song for him?’ So, that’s exactly what I did. I composed two separate songs, loaded them onto an iPod, [and] presented it to him as a gift, complete with my signature on the bag. It was quite adorable,” Mariah further recounted on the talk show. “He told me he had no intention of listening to it… He remarked, ‘I don’t want to crack jokes about you, so I’m skipping that s**t.’”
Before her major breakthrough, Mariah was pursuing a career in anesthesiology at St. John’s University in New York, which influenced her stage name. Themes related to science could later be found in tracks like “Beetlejuice” and “Reminders” from her debut album, *MASTER*, released in 2019.
Since their time together, both the “Always n Forever” vocalist and Yachty have progressed in different directions. The Grammy nominee garnered attention after cheating on City Girls’ JT several years prior, while Mariah started a relationship with Young Thug in 2021.
“It’s sweet, you know. I adore him,” Mariah expressed to Complex speaking about the founder of YSL Records, who is presently entangled in a RICO case. “It resembles a long-distance relationship, but I get to see him during court sessions… Sometimes I end up dozing off there. I simply go to be close to him… I cherish my man, absolutely. I love him.”
