Liam Payne was working on a significant television venture prior to his unexpected passing last week… leaving the series’ future in uncertainty, according to TMZ.
Insiders have informed TMZ that the team behind “Building the Band” — a reality singing competition poised for release on Netflix — were “stunned and heartbroken” upon hearing of the One Direction member’s abrupt departure.
Liam, alongside AJ McLean, Nicole Scherzinger, and Kelly Rowland, had finished filming the series… however, the release date was never disclosed.
Currently, there are many inquiries regarding whether the show will actually be released… following Liam’s tragic fall from his third-story balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina last week.
Producers have expressed that they believe it’s “premature” to reach a decision, particularly as Liam’s fellow cast members are still dealing with their sorrow.
As mentioned earlier, Nicole, who took on the role of a judge in “Building the Band” alongside Liam, paid homage to the British artist on Thursday… mentioning it was “such a privilege to collaborate” with him.

She remarked … “Our shared love and enthusiasm for music will always stay with me, and I will cherish the significant and uplifting discussions we engaged in.”
Reports indicate that Nicole was still in touch with the 1D member, having exchanged messages with him on the day of his passing.
AJ conveyed a similar feeling to photographers earlier this week when he described Liam as a “darling” and reminisced about the multitude of “commonalities” they shared.
Investigations into the singer’s passing are ongoing by local authorities in Argentina … however, preliminary autopsy findings suggest he had a combination of substances in his system at the time of his death.
Liam leaves behind his 7-year-old son, Bear… whom he welcomed with his former partner Cheryl Cole in March 2017.
