The late Chicago drill rap icon King Von has gained significant attention this year, four years following his passing — and Lil Durk has just amplified his friend’s legacy in his music!
Recently, Durk’s comrade from the Chicago drill scene, G Herbo, gave a fresh twist to his latest project with the “Big Swerv 2.0” deluxe release, which includes the track “In The Air,” featuring a highlight from Durk.
At the conclusion of his verse, Durk alludes to the impact King Von has made … “Goodbye, I’m leaving Chicago, I’m a survivor. Yeah, I turned a serial killer into a rap star.”

If you remember, filmmaker Trap Lore Ross faced backlash from numerous Chicago residents when he released his documentary “King Von: Rap’s First Serial Killer” the previous year.
At that time, Ross shared with TMZ Hip Hop that he admired Von and had researched the available information, including leaked Chicago Police records suggesting Von was implicated in a murder posthumously.
It appears Lil Durk had recorded a significant amount of music prior to his murder-for-hire arrest last Thursday … he managed to promote his forthcoming album, “Deep Thoughts,” before being taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Miami.
It might take some time before Durk and Herbo will be seen performing their latest track live … Durk faces serious allegations of financing supposed associates of his Only The Family label to execute a hit on Quando Rondo, who, tragically, ended up killing his cousin instead.
He is presently in federal custody.
