After ascending the ladder in the music scene, Latto has had her fair share of rivalries with various artists. Yet, contrary to her public disputes with Ice Spice and Coi Leray, her tensions with Nicki Minaj have remained less transparent.
However, when Latto went live on Instagram performing Minaj’s iconic verse from the Young Money classic, “Bedrock,” which features Lil Wayne, Drake, Tyga, among others, social media erupted with diverse interpretations of its implications.
A user on the platform formerly known as Twitter remarked, “‘Latto is incredibly real for rapping a Nicki Minaj verse.’ Actually, NO, Latto has criticized Nicki’s family, shared a private conversation, and made comments about her age. Do you all recall what Nicki stated? ‘Sealed your fate if you ever disrespected the family.’”
Azealia Banks commented, “You know, it’s like let ME simply be kind to the girls who appreciate me and collaborate with them. Because I believe Nicki is an icon who richly deserves all the admiration and acclaim she receives and would have a lot more enjoyment embracing the girls. I too am an icon [and] deserving of appreciation and SHOULD extend kindness to Doja [Cat] and Doechii rather than being difficult all the time.”
Latto has vocally expressed her admiration for Minaj’s artistry. It will be captivating to see if the “Anaconda” rapper will reply to the now-popular video of her performing the beloved song.
Recently, Latto launched her “Sugar Honey Iced Tea Tour,” featuring Mariah The Scientist and KARRAHBOOO as her opening acts. She was also revealed to be one of the three judges for the latest season of Netflix’s “Rhythm + Flow,” sharing the spotlight with Ludacris and DJ Khaled. The series will also present GloRilla, Big Sean, Busta Rhymes, and Remy Ma as guest judges. This marks the continuation of the show’s first season, which premiered in 2019.
