Doechii received a major endorsement from Kendrick Lamar on Thursday (Oct. 17).
The Compton rapper shared a CashApp advertisement featuring the “What It Is (Block Boy)” performer on Instagram, followed by a post showcasing her Alligator Bites Never Heal album cover with the caption, “The hardest out.”
“Thank you, Dot. You’re the best,” Doechii expressed her gratitude. In another Story, she wrote, “Receiving your flowers while you can still smell them >>>.” The TDE artist also shared a video of herself shadow boxing on TikTok.
Although Lamar and Doechii have yet to officially collaborate, she noted that it’s “the dream” during her interview on “The Joe Budden Podcast” last September. “I don’t take anything for granted, and I don’t feel entitled to a Kendrick feature, but I would absolutely be thrilled if that happened,” the Florida talent remarked. “I’m certain that when it comes to my debut project, I’ll ask Top [Dawg] if he could talk to Kendrick, or I might reach out to Kendrick directly and see what unfolds.”
Doechii’s Alligator Bites Never Heal debuted in late August, garnering rave reviews from fans and several fellow TDE artists. This 19-track project was released without any features, showcasing productions from talents like Devin Malik, Childish Major, Kal Banx, and Super Miles, among others. Standout tracks included “CATFISH,” “BOOM BAP,” and “NISSAN ALTIMA” — the latter accompanied by a visually stunning video featuring Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad, and Jay Rock.
The “Alligator Bites Never Heal Tour” commenced earlier this month at The Loft in Atlanta. On Monday (Oct. 21), Doechii will entertain audiences in Berlin, followed by performances in Amsterdam, Paris, London, Los Angeles, and Tampa, among other cities.
Meanwhile, Kendrick recently released a surprise track in September, marking his first musical output since the video for “Not Like Us” debuted in July.
