Angel Reese is widely recognized as the favorite WNBA star of Hip Hop — both during games and beyond. On Thursday (October 17), in a conversation with The Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Sky forward reflected on her career milestones, including her memorable moment with Cardi B at the Met Gala in May.

“It was my birthday. I had training in the morning. They celebrated my birthday, arranged my hair and makeup on the flight, and someone brought my dress from Paris,” Reese recounted to the publication while describing her striking appearance at the prestigious event. She adorned a mint green gown from 16Arlington, created by the brand’s creative director, Marco Capaldo.

“The queue to ascend the stairs was overwhelming, but my table was fabulous. I was seated alongside my girl Cardi. I connected with so many wonderful people, and they recognized me, which highlights the growing support for women’s sports,” the Maryland native reminisced. She and the New York rapper had established a connection through their collaboration on Latto’s “Put It On Da Floor Again” video.

“They expressed their pride in me,” Reese continued. “I thought, ‘I love you all, and you’re proud of me.’ It’s truly rewarding to witness my influence both on and off the court, extending beyond just sports.”

The athlete mentioned previously her desire to invite the Invasion of Privacy artist to her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel.” “I aim to have guests from various fields on the show—sports, music, entertainment, business, creators, and more,” she stated while speaking to Complex in August. “I absolutely need to feature my girls [Megan Thee Stallion], Latto, and Cardi B on here.”

Earlier this month, Vogue announced the names of the 2025 Met Gala co-chairs: ASAP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, LeBron James, and Anna Wintour. The theme of this year’s event will center on “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” with a particular emphasis on Black dandyism.
