For those who believed differently, Nicki Minaj made it clear on Monday (Oct. 14) that she is not stepping away from music.
“Ain’t going no motherf**kin’ where. Kiss my a** and hiatus,” the rapper from Queens announced on X. “We don’t disclose our hiatus, Barbz. Crack is whack. We don’t do that. Just chill and let things unfold naturally.”
This declaration followed her earlier remarks on Stationhead on Sunday (Oct. 13). During that live broadcast, Minaj reminisced about her upcoming “Pink Friday 2 World Tour” and fielded questions from her supporters. “I am taking a brief pause, but I have the Vogue event, which I hold in high regard, along with a couple of other projects, and then I’ll take a moment for myself,” she mentioned at one point.
The “couple of projects” she referenced could pertain to the diva’s next album, Pink Friday 3. Back in September, she confirmed the new album would act as a substitute for Pink Friday 2: Gag City Reloaded, which was originally set to debut on the 13th of that month.
“I’ve decided to roll out a completely new album,” she stated. “I will reveal the new release date in the coming weeks. The fresh tracks are simply too good to be relegated to a deluxe edition.”
Speaking on her choice not to expand the former album, Minaj expressed, “As my debut album as [Papa Bear’s] mother, this holds immense significance for various reasons you may not comprehend. I arranged each track in a deliberate manner… adding one or two songs isn’t an issue, but [including] five to seven tracks seems a bit disorganized at this moment.”
The “Pink Friday 2 World Tour” wrapped up with a closing concert in Queens, New York, on Oct. 11. Minaj featured guests Sexyy Red and Young M.A, while BIA and Tyga took the stage as opening performers.
