The Metropolitan Detention Center located in Brooklyn, New York — where music icon Diddy is presently detained while awaiting his sex-trafficking trial — underwent an “interagency operation” on Monday, as confirmed to TMZ by federal officials. Authorities from multiple federal entities arrived at the establishment early that morning.
A representative from the Federal Bureau of Prisons informed TMZ that the undertaking at the federal facility is a joint effort involving the FBOP, the U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General, alongside various law enforcement agencies aimed at “intensive efforts to enhance conditions” within the contentious facility.
The spokesperson remarked that the agencies’ “interagency operation” was “formulated to fulfill our common goal of ensuring a safe atmosphere for both our workforce and the detained persons at MDC Brooklyn.”
Although a spokesperson from the FBOP verified that the operation was premeditated, they emphasized that there was “no ongoing threat.”
No further specifics were disclosed to ensure the safety and protection of everyone involved … however, they indicated that additional information would be provided once the operation concluded. Last month, nine inmates were indicted for various assaults that occurred this year in the jail, as reported by The Associated Press, which included two deadly stabbings.
This news update follows comments from Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, who had previously voiced concerns regarding the conditions at MDC Brooklyn. Earlier in the month, Diddy’s lawyer stated that the “most challenging aspect” of the Bad Boy Records founder’s imprisonment has been the food provided.
Nonetheless, MDC Brooklyn has garnered a notorious reputation for violence and unsanitary living conditions, housing over 1,200 individuals — including Diddy and the disgraced crypto mogul Sam Bankman-Fried — at present.
