Erik and Lyle Menendez are aiming for liberation from prison prior to Thanksgiving, employing a fresh approach through their legal representatives … they are requesting clemency from the governor of California.
Mark Geragos, the attorney representing the Menendez siblings, joined us on “TMZ Live” this Tuesday and mentioned he’s submitting papers today, appealing to Gavin Newsom for clemency.
Politickin’ with Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch, and Doug Hendrickson
This is notably significant on its own, and insiders affiliated with the Governor’s office have informed us that they are aware of the clemency petition … this is particularly intriguing as Newsom recently discussed the Menendez brothers during a podcast.
Governor Newsom offered his thoughts on Erik and Lyle’s circumstances during “Politickin’ with Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch, and Doug Hendrickson” … indicating he was advised to monitor their case due to the Netflix documentary, commending Ryan Murphy for orchestrating a captivating show.
Newsom stated that he is currently reviewing recommendations from the parole board, as well as considering pardons and commutations unrelated to the Menendez brothers … remarking that this period leading up to the holidays is when such matters are typically addressed.
Geragos also affirmed earlier reports … revealing that Erik and Lyle’s legal counsel is preparing to request the judge at their resentencing hearing to alter their conviction from murder to involuntary manslaughter, which would result in their immediate release based on the time they’ve already served.

Additionally, there is a new judge presiding over the case, with the resentencing hearing anticipated to occur next month … however, it appears that Geragos could potentially secure the release of Erik and Lyle sooner than expected.
