DDG expressed his thoughts towards Joe Budden after the Halfway House artist made remarks regarding his breakup with Halle Bailey. On Saturday (Oct. 5), the YouTube star-turned-rapper fired back at the host of the “Joe Budden Podcast” with a series of responses.
“‘Pump It Up’ achieved gold status after two decades, you old fool,” DDG tweeted, sharing a screenshot of the RIAA certification for the song. He then reinforced his point by showcasing his own accolades for “I’m Geekin,” “Hood Melody,” and “Arguments,” all of which are gold records, plus “Moonwalking In Calabasas,” recognized as platinum.
Budden responded with a straightforward “LOL” quote-tweet and later added, “I love this place.”
“[I don’t] mind when the ladies say things [because] I’m accustomed to it. It’s all good vibes, but [you] fellows [with] platforms are definitely going to trigger a reaction, [for sure],” DDG elaborated. “Bruh, [you] got a maximum of 30 years left in this life and [are] commenting on a relationship involving people the same age as your son [that you don’t] take care of. I hope [you] forget your magnesium pills today, [you] old fool.”
On his podcast, Budden had earlier stated, “I’m genuinely pleased they have parted ways, so I don’t have to keep seeing this guy’s name linked with this girl when I don’t even know him on his own merit. For me, knowing individuals based on their own name and achievements is crucial.”
The seasoned podcaster continued, “Every time I come across his name, it’s tied to hers, and it usually comes off as some sort of clout-chasing endeavor. This shifts my perspective on him, and hopefully, I’ll get to see him significantly less now that they’ve split.”
“After considerable contemplation and sincere discussions, Halle and I have decided to part ways,” DDG stated in his initial post on Thursday (Oct. 3). “This choice wasn’t simple, but we believe it is the best direction for both of us. I treasure the moments we’ve shared and the love we’ve experienced.” The two creatives began their relationship in 2022 and are parents to a son, Halo.
