Future and Gunna

Hip Hop enthusiasts believe Future threw shade at Gunna during his recent guest spot. On Friday (Oct. 4), the HNDRXX artist teamed up with FERG for the track “Allure.”
In the second verse of the song, Future spat lines such as, “I’m just a street dude, just spitting bars, my day ones got locked up/ You took a plea on my slime, wouldn’t be shocked if you ended up dead.” Almost immediately, listeners linked the lyrics to Gunna’s Alford plea in the RICO case involving Young Thug. With albums like Slime Season and Slime Language, the YSL Records founder has been closely tied to the term “slime.”
“I love when Future [starts] talking reckless. Someone has to do it,” commented one Instagram user beneath The Shade Room’s repost. Another reply said, “This could refer to anyone actually… There are many who testified against that man.”
“He could be talking about Woody [at this stage],” remarked someone else, referencing Kenneth “Lil Woody” Copeland, a key witness in Thug’s trial. Additional comments included, “He [is] too mature to be rapping like that” and “No disrespect towards Gunna will be accepted.”
While neither artist has overtly attacked the other, Future tweeted and deleted Gunna’s “prada dem” in March. Then, in May, he appeared to signal a project release coinciding with One of Wun.
“Forget your album. [That] sh*t isn’t hitting like my MIXTAPE,” Future tweeted, followed by “MIXTAPE PLUTO.” Shortly after, Gunna shared, “Turn this s**t [back] up [a] notch” and “[Forget] what these guys are saying.”
Although Future’s release didn’t come out on May 10 — we ultimately found out he was hinting at MIXTAPE PLUTO, which dropped in September — the Freebandz leader did deliver the lines, “Forget your album, s**t isn’t hitting like my mixtape/ I’m making Saudi Arabian money, serving oil-based” on Tee Grizzley’s “Swear to God.”
