Roddy Ricch’s THE NAVY ALBUM is set to drop soon. On Tuesday (Oct. 29) evening, the rapper shared the exciting news that his third studio effort will be released on December 6.
The “Die Young” artist took to X to express gratitude towards Tyler, The Creator, who just unveiled his new project, CHROMAKOPIA. He added, “West Side is thriving. It’s my turn now!” along with a separate tweet stating, “THE NAVY ALBUM drops on December 6.”
Details surrounding this anticipated album remain scarce, but it is expected to include tracks like “Survivor’s Remorse” and “911.” In the music video for “911,” Ricch portrays a vigilante hero, rescuing women from perilous situations such as a blazing inferno, an oncoming train, and abductions. He also hinted at collaborating with frequent partner and producer 30 Roc at the Navy HQ.
It’s interesting to note that December 6 marks the fifth year since the release of Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, Roddy’s inaugural studio album. This 16-track compilation featured the Grammy-nominated hit “The Box” along with chart-toppers like “High Fashion,” “Start Wit Me” featuring Gunna, and “Bacc Seat” with Ty Dolla Sign. Other notable artists contributing to the album included Meek Mill, Lil Durk, Mustard, and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie.
Following that successful debut, Ricch released LIVE LIFE FAST in 2021, which unfortunately did not achieve the same level of success. “Late at night was an unexpected hit that people really started to recognize a couple of months later,” he shared with DJ Akademiks while discussing the sales of the album. “If I had dropped an album during that period and sold what I did (62,000 album-equivalent units), I would have easily reached 180,000.”
The Compton-born artist hasn’t been entirely silent since. Earlier this year, he collaborated with Gunna on “Let It Breathe” and worked with Mustard on tracks from Faith Of A Mustard Seed titled “Truth Is” and “One Bad Decision.”
