The 2024 iHeartRadio Festival is set to kick off on Friday (Sept. 20) evening in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, ASAP Rocky, one of the star performers, has had to pull out of the festival due to health issues.
“Regrettably, I have fallen ill and will not be able to take the stage at the iHeartRadio Festival. I apologize to my fans and am grateful to iHeartRadio for the chance!” he announced through his Instagram Story on Thursday (Sept. 19). “I was eager to share some new tracks with you all! Enjoy the show. The lineup is [fire].”
Rocky was among a number of hip-hop stars scheduled to perform, which included Big Sean and Doja Cat. Other notable performers featured are Victoria Monét, Shaboozey, Camila Cabello, The Weeknd, and Dua Lipa.
Disappointed fans of the “Wild for the Night” rapper expressed their frustration, noticing that iHeartRadio has not planned for a substitute for his performance. “No one to fill ASAP’s spot?” one individual questioned in the comments of the festival’s lineup update. Another commenter expressed, “[I] want a refund because Rocky is out, and there’s no alternate.”
The New York rapper’s anticipated album, Don’t Be Dumb, is slated for release this fall. Earlier in the month, he teased fans with the J. Cole-featured track “Ruby Rosary,” produced by The Alchemist. In the song, Rocky references both Rosalía and Jodeci, and many speculate he may have made a subtle reference to Drake with a line that seems to nod to “Push Ups” from March.
In August, the music video for “Tailor Swif” officially premiered after previously leaking years ago. “At this stage, I’ve been creating music for six years, but they leak it, and I’m like, ‘Forget it.’ They unveil so much of my work, and it spoils it. Like my ‘Tailor Swif’ video. I was really upset about it, so I decided against releasing it,” Rocky remarked to Billboard regarding the project.
