Star player of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chris Godwin, endured a leg injury so grave during the match against the Ravens that ESPN opted not to air replays of the incident during their “Monday Night Football” segment.
This incident unfolded in the fourth quarter of the Buccaneers’ overwhelming defeat against Baltimore when Godwin and Baker Mayfield were endeavoring to capitalize on the game despite the score.
Chris Godwin has fallen with what could be a broken/dislocated ankle.
ESPN has chosen not to show the replay.

The 28-year-old receiver received a pass from his quarterback in the center of the field on a challenging play … and as he pivoted to reach for the first-down marker, Roquan Smith tackled him to the turf from behind.
Sadly for Godwin, his leg became trapped beneath the body of the linebacker … resulting in a grotesque appearance of his ankle that seemingly snapped. It was so distressing that Joe Buck remarked on-air that ESPN would not provide another viewpoint of the incident.
Godwin remained on the ground for several minutes … before medical staff secured him in an air cast. He was subsequently carted off the field.
After the match — which concluded with the Bucs falling, 41-31 — head coach Todd Bowles mentioned that preliminary reports indicated Godwin had suffered a dislocated ankle. “The outlook appears grim,” he commented.
NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero later confirmed that Godwin will undergo surgery within the week and is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
With Mike Evans also going down during the match, the 4-3 Buccaneers are now facing a significant shortage of players at the wide receiver spot as they prepare for their upcoming game against Atlanta this weekend.
