Chief Keef is set to premiere a new documentary. On Tuesday (October 15), Variety announced that Cole Bennett’s Lyrical Lemonade will be at the forefront of this exciting new project, which still awaits a title and a release date.
As reported by the media outlet, this film aims to highlight Keef’s journey, including his rise, hiatus, and recent return to his hometown. Notably, the “I Don’t Like” performer graced the stage in Chicago for the first time in over ten years during June’s Summer Smash festival.
Kenya Barris’ Khalabo Ink Society will lead the production of this documentary, with Jeremy Allen stepping onboard as a producer. It’s intriguing to mention that this will technically mark Keef’s second documentary project, as his 2017 collaboration with Apple Music, The Story of Sosa: The Movie, unfortunately, never materialized.
Bennett and Keef had previously teamed up for “Say Ya Grace” from All Is Yellow in January. This track also featured Lil Yachty and was released with a dynamic music video.
In discussing the video shoot, Bennett told Kids Take Over, “He was dressed in an entirely camouflage ensemble from Gallery Dept. I said, ‘Bro, just one favor: can you put on this suit?’ He replied, ‘There’s no way I’m gonna wear a suit.’ I was like, ‘At least wear all black for me, and I’ll handle the rest in post-production.’”
“The wait was about 10 minutes. I thought, ‘He might not even step out. Who knows?’” the director shared, later revealing that the Almighty So 2 creator pleasantly surprised him. Bennett noted, “[Peeda] Pan, his manager, mentioned, ‘Yo, you don’t realize how wild this is. He’s not into suits. We got that suit for a red carpet event four years ago that he skipped because he wasn’t keen on wearing it.’”
In related news, Megan Thee Stallion’s upcoming feature-length documentary, In Her Words, is expected to debut on Amazon Prime Video this Halloween (October 31).
