Shawn Mendes is receiving applause from Colorado Governor Jared Polis after he candidly shared his ongoing journey with his sexual identity during a concert.
The artist behind “Treat You Better” graced the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on Monday, where he addressed persistent rumors regarding his sexuality and conveyed that he is still figuring it out.
Shawn Mendes has faced pressure and bullying for years, even prior to turning 18, to disclose his sexuality.
He addressed this topic during his performance at Red Rocks.

Governor Polis, the first openly gay governor of Colorado, shared with TMZ, “Red Rocks is an amazing venue for sharing all kinds of experiences. Here in Colorado, everyone can love freely and be their authentic selves without hesitation.”
Shawn was warmly received by the audience, and Gov. Polis commented that Shawn chose the perfect setting to share his truth, being surrounded by supportive Coloradans who champion his right to be himself.
