DDG and Halle Bailey have officially ended their relationship. The “Moonwalking in Calabasas” artist revealed the news himself on Thursday night (October 3) through an Instagram Story.

“After a lot of contemplation and deep discussions, Halle and I have chosen to part ways,” he shared via the platform. “This choice was not an easy one, but we believe it’s the most beneficial decision for both of us. I treasure the moments we had and the love we experienced together.”

“Although our relationship has evolved, our affection for one another remains authentic and profound,” DDG added. “We are still the best of friends and hold each other in high regard. As we concentrate on our individual paths and responsibilities as co-parents, we will always value the connection we formed and the precious memories we’ve created.” As of now, Bailey has not publicly commented on the breakup.

DDG and Bailey prominently announced their relationship in 2022, culminating in their red carpet presentation during the BET Awards. However, their romance has faced its share of scrutiny, particularly in the lead-up to the release of 2023’s The Little Mermaid live-action adaptation, in which Bailey portrayed the lead character.

During an interview with Cosmopolitan, Bailey characterized DDG as her “first true, deep love.” She elaborated, “This is an experience I am having for the very first time, and it’s, like, ‘Wow’ in your mind. It’s like fireworks, sparking creativity.”

“We’re best friends. We oddly share many similarities, and we enjoy hanging out. She’s incredibly fun and humorous,” DDG expressed in a conversation with REVOLT that same year. “While we display affection publicly, we often don’t engage in typical boyfriend-girlfriend behavior; we simply relax together, which is the best aspect.”

The two artists privately welcomed their first child, Halo, at the end of 2023. “We felt it was essential to keep things low-key since people were already projecting negative vibes,” DDG explained regarding their choice to maintain privacy.

On the music front, Bailey gifted fans with “Because I Love You” in August. The music video, which has attracted 3.2 million views on YouTube so far, was a follow-up to her March release, “In Your Hands.” She also collaborated with Chlöe and DDG on “Want Me” and a re-release of “If I Want You,” respectively.
