Doja Cat has established herself as one of the most divisive figures in the music scene. On Saturday night (Sept. 28), at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City, she made remarks during her performance that ignited a wave of reactions from her audience.
In a particularly surprising moment, she once again confronted the rumors about her engagement to actor Joseph Quinn by signaling to her fans and whispering, “I’m not married,” while belting out her popular song, “Agora Hills.” Quinn has garnered fame primarily from his role in the hit Netflix series, “Stranger Things.”
This marks the second occasion she has tackled inquiries regarding her relationship status. The first instance was during her set at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas on Sept. 21. Notably, at that time, she sported a David Yurman ring that had “no rocks in it,” according to the Scarlet rapper.
While captivating audiences at one of the globe’s most prestigious festivals, she took the opportunity to voice her concerns about the numerous injustices affecting various nations worldwide. She expressed, “Right now, millions of men, women, and children in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, The Congo, and all around the world are in distress. In times such as these, it’s crucial to remember that united we hold the power to foster change, share love, bring light, and instill hope in those who require it the most.”
She further stated, “I collaborated with Global Citizen to assist individuals in regions plagued by conflict and crisis, and I recognize that many of you are joining me in taking action to secure your tickets for tonight’s event.”
She encouraged the audience to persist in their efforts. “Please continue utilizing your voices to support those escaping violence in accessing the nourishment, shelter, and education they not only need but truly deserve. There is remarkable beauty and strength in all of you who are witnessing this.”
The impassioned speech resonated with the crowd, resulting in enthusiastic cheers from the hundreds of fans eager to witness one of the music industry’s leading stars advocating for justice. Although Doja is known for her whimsical demeanor, she displayed a deep seriousness about providing assistance to those in need globally.
