As the U.S. presidential election approaches, Vice President Kamala Harris has been rallying numerous prominent figures in the Hip Hop and R&B scene. In August, Megan Thee Stallion and Quavo expressed their support for the candidate during an event in Atlanta, while Usher endorsed her formally over the weekend.
To add to the growing list of supporters, Eminem is anticipated to join Harris’ rally in Detroit on Tuesday evening (Oct. 22), as reported earlier by CNN. Instead of a standard musical performance, the “Houdini” rapper is expected to present former President Barack Obama.
Back in 2020, Eminem permitted Joe Biden to use his iconic track “Lose Yourself” in a 45-second campaign spot titled “One Opportunity.” The monochrome ad featured clips of the president alongside Harris at the Michigan State Fairgrounds.
It’s also significant to note that in 2017, Slim Shady criticized Trump during an interview with Vulture. He stated, “Setting jokes aside, my goal is to communicate a message about him.” He expressed, “I want this country to excel as much as possible, but under his leadership, it’s unlikely to happen.”
He further remarked, “When do you — as a working-class individual, someone striving to improve life for yourself and your family — think this person who has never faced hardship in his entire life, who dodged military service due to bone spurs, who claims he’s a billionaire, genuinely cares about you? He’s got folks under a spell.”
Tuesday will represent the second campaign event for Harris-Walz in Detroit within just a week. On Saturday (Oct. 19), Lizzo declared, “This is the swing state of all swing states, so every single vote here is crucial… If you ask me whether America is ready for its first female president, I have only one response: It’s about damn time!”
