Vice President Kamala Harris has been showcasing an array of influential Hip Hop and R&B stars in the lead-up to the U.S. presidential race. In August, Megan Thee Stallion and Quavo expressed their endorsement for the candidate during a rally in Atlanta, with Usher also offering his official backing over the past weekend.
Moreover, Eminem is anticipated to make an appearance at Harris’ rally in Detroit on Tuesday evening (Oct. 22), as reported by CNN. Instead of performing a typical set, the icon known for “Houdini” is set to introduce former President Barack Obama.
In the previous election cycle of 2020, Eminem had authorized Joe Biden to feature his song “Lose Yourself” in a brief 45-second advertisement titled “One Opportunity.” The monochrome visual included clips of both the president and Harris at the Michigan State Fairgrounds.
It’s noteworthy that in 2017, Slim Shady criticized Trump during an interview with Vulture. “Setting humor and punchlines aside, I’m pushing a message out there about him,” he shared with the magazine. “I wish for our nation to thrive too, to become the best it can be, but it won’t happen with him at the helm.”
He elaborated, “When does the average working-class person, striving to improve their lives and that of their family, realize this individual who has never faced hardship in his privileged life—who dodged military service due to bone spurs and claims to be a billionaire—is genuinely looking out for you? He’s got people under his spell.”
On Tuesday, the Harris-Walz campaign will hold its second event in Detroit within just a week. At a gathering on Saturday (Oct. 19), Lizzo remarked, “This is the ultimate swing state, so every single vote matters here… When asked if America is ready for its first female president, all I can say is: It’s about time!”
