On Monday (Sept. 23), Eve decided to reflect the admiration Nicki Minaj expressed towards her following the revelation in the “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” rapper’s memoir.
“I sincerely appreciate this, thank you tremendously,” she wrote on Twitter. “I have endless respect and take immense pride in witnessing your evolution as both an artist [and] mother, while you have consistently remained authentic. We all know that maintaining this is no simple task for us, indeed.”
“Thank you for the heartfelt messages and the good wishes for my family. [It] goes without saying that the sentiment is reciprocated,” Eve concluded.
Earlier this month, the Philadelphia artist shared her journey of attending therapy after she and Minaj were announced as part of Barbershop: The Next Cut. This 2016 film, which marked the third chapter in the series, also starred notable figures such as Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Common, and Regina Hall.
“We had a great rapport and filmed our segments together effortlessly. It was nothing like I had imagined, yet I’m grateful that I was mentally ready for it,” Eve wrote. “I anticipated feeling bitterness towards her, and instead, all I experienced was empathy. I remembered being in her shoes, feeling the pressure to achieve everything.”
Minaj reacted to the “Who’s That Girl?” excerpt on Sunday (Sept. 22). She remarked, “The various insights you’ve shared lately are revolutionary — in my view — for countless reasons. First, I want to extend my gratitude. The level of grace, maturity both emotionally and spiritually it requires to be this open and honest is a testament to genuine peace, joy, fulfillment, and mastery of oneself.”
This year has been exceptionally hectic for the Pink Friday 2 artist, who is actively touring to promote her latest project. The tour is slated to conclude at the UBS Arena in her native Queens on Oct. 11.
