“On behalf of my family, I wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has reached out in light of Amir’s departure,” the former forward for the Atlanta Hawks and current G League president stated in a concise message on his X account.
From God we come, and to God we shall all return. On behalf of my family, I want to express our gratitude to all who have reached out regarding Amir’s passing. Kindly keep our family in your prayers. As @sunsetAMIR would often say, to God be the Glory.

“Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. As @sunsetAMIR would proclaim, to God be the Glory.”
Shareef, who currently serves as the president of the NBA’s G-League, boasts a 13-year career in the NBA having played for teams such as the now-defunct Vancouver Grizzlies, Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trailblazers, and Sacramento Kings.
Sadly, Shareef’s 43-year-old sibling Amir passed away due to complications during a medical procedure.
Abdur-Rahim became part of the USF program last year … successfully guiding the Bulls to a 25-8 record.
The team is set to begin its 2024 season in six days … taking on Edward Waters University in an exhibition match.
We have contacted both institutions to ascertain if the game remains scheduled as planned … but have yet to receive a response.
