Future’s MIXTAPE PLUTO made its debut on Friday (Sept. 20) at the stroke of midnight, leaving long-time fans astonished that the 17-track compilation features no collaborations at all.
The album kicks off with the Southside-produced track “TEFLON DON,” then seamlessly flows into “LIL DEMON,” which had been teased prior to the official drop. Future worked with renowned producers such as London on da Track, ATL Jacob, Wheezy, Southside, and Honorable C.N.O.T.E. Notably, both Travis Scott and Gunna were set to be part of “SOUTH OF FRANCE” and “TOLD MY,” respectively, but ultimately didn’t make it onto the final tracklist.
Curiously, fans speculated that MIXTAPE PLUTO would be released on the same day as Gunna’s One of Wun after Future’s tweet indicating, “F**k yo album. Sh*t ain’t slappin like my MIXTAPE,” along with a date of May 10. However, this turned out to be related to his verse on Tee Grizzley’s “Swear to God.” Enjoy the full LP below.
“Future dropped. [It’s a] significant day for emotionally distant men,” tweeted one enthusiastic fan. Another chimed in, “MIXTAPE PLUTO is absolutely for the original Future followers. There [are] no guest features… [It’s simply] mind-blowing production, remarkable one-liners, cycling [the] same s**t because it’s a mood, [and] amazing flow transitions throughout [the] track.” Keep scrolling for additional feedback.
MIXTAPE PLUTO signifies Future’s initial solo offering of 2024 and his third overall project. He had previously collaborated with Metro Boomin on We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You, the latter including the hit “Like That.”
“We Don’t Trust You focused more on world-building since listeners were anticipating just one album — we approached it with that intention,” Metro shared during a conversation with his frequent collaborator NAV for Wonderland. “We Still Don’t Trust You created a mood in its assembly, lacking a narrative component.”
