On Thursday (Sept. 26), G Herbo addressed the lawsuit initiated against him by Prince Lobel Tye LLP. The legal firm had previously represented the “High Speed” artist in a federal wire fraud case in 2020, which resulted in him receiving a three-year probation sentence.
Asking for $237,000 — which includes $26,542 in accrued interest, according to AllHipHop — the lawsuit accused Herbo of “breach of contract” and “unjust enrichment.” The attorneys asserted that he ceased payments “approximately two weeks” before his sentencing, with the last installment recorded on December 29, 2023.
“I believe I’m facing this issue solely because I’m a public figure. What they neglected to mention is that I’ve already compensated them nearly $1 million. Yes, I acknowledge my remaining debt of $237,000, but I feel they overcharged me due to my celebrity status,” the Chicago artist articulated through Instagram.
“Additionally, they never alerted me that major banks would deny me banking services no matter how much I held in my account. That’s just one of the numerous challenges I’ve encountered since the conclusion of this case,” Herbo elaborated. “I’ve had to revamp my team and take a step back to reorganize. Regardless, I’m grateful for all their assistance and hope they will be patient as I work on rebuilding my career.”
As reported by Rap-Up, Herbo pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud and identity theft in 2023. The 14-count indictment charged that the PTSD creator and his associates exploited stolen identities over four years to accumulate over $1 million on extravagant items including private jets, luxury vehicles, lavish vacations, and even two designer puppies.
On the music front, Herbo released Big Swerv on September 6. The collection features 14 tracks with appearances from Chief Keef, BabyDrill, Rob49, Sexyy Red, and 21 Savage. Key tracks include “In The A,” “Strike You,” and “Influence.”
